2024 Outstanding Professional Service Awards
The Professional Teaching Council of Western Australia (PTCWA) will hold their Annual Outstanding Professional Service Awards, in celebration of World Teachers’ Day, on Wednesday 23rd October 2024 at Karrinyup Country Club.
These prestigious awards recognise individual member’s outstanding professional contribution to education in Western Australia, made in a voluntary capacity to their professional teachers’ association. This provides the opportunity for each financial member association of PTCWA to celebrate the work of their members and nominate a worthy recipient.
The Professional Teaching Council of Western Australia aims to promote professionalism in teaching through an enhancement of the work of professional education associations. It provides a wider context for the work of professional associations facilitating networking and communication between individual associations, while also providing a forum for the discussion of educational theory and current issues.

Nominations will be accepted from financial member associations for consideration by the PTCWA Committee.
To be eligible for consideration the individual being nominated should:
- be a current or past member of the nominating association;
- have made an outstanding voluntary contribution to the association’s support of teachers and education in WA over an extended period of time as, for example:
- contribution to the association’s publications either at a personal or professional level (eg: served as journal editor, have developed teaching resources, have written articles, etc)
- committee member
- professional development coordinator
- award or accreditation coordinator
- website/ ICT coordinator
- and/ or have made an outstanding contribution to the association over an extended period of time through the management of the association and/ or association’s committee.
Successful Nominations
The Association must ensure:
- the nomination is completed using the online nomination form;
- the inclusion of a 100 - 250 word citation about their nominee that will appear in the Awards Booklet (citations may be edited);
- the online nomination form is submitted by the association’s current President as nominator, and another current office bearer as seconder (in the case of the nominee being the current President, or in the absence of the President, the nomination must be submitted by two current office bearers of the association as nominator and seconder);
- received on or before Friday 6th September 2024.
Separate to this nomination, the Nominee will be asked to provide:
- a single Power Point slide highlighting their Association; and
- a 150-word summary of why their Association is an important part of their professional life. This will be used in the Awards Ceremony.
Important Notes:
- Nominations are not considered to be received or accepted until you have received confirmation from the PTCWA Executive.
- PTCWA will always acknowledge when your nomination has been received.
- If you do not receive an acknowledgement within 7 days of submitting your nomination, please contact the Executive Officer.
- PTCWA is not able to accept responsibility for nominations not received according to the guidelines or by the due date.
- Award recipients will be personally invited to attend the ceremony along with a guest.
- The Nominator and Seconder will also be invited to attend the ceremony to celebrate their colleague’s achievement.
